There are many mechanisms and forces that affect the reliability of electronics. Reasons for control failure are often difficult to pinpoint. Heat, dirt and moisture are usually the most deadly hazards that industrial control systems face. Cabinet fans (still widely used for cooling) pull hot, dirty air from the room into the cabinet that you're trying to cool down!

To properly evaluate the amount of cooling that a cabinet will need, please determine:

  1. The cabinet temperature
  2. The room temperature
  3. The highest room temperature possible
  4. The desired cabinet temperature
  5. Physical cabinet size (width, height & depth)
